Vibrating Feeder Specifications
The figures below describe typical industry specifications for this class of equipment rather than a single fixed model. Use them to scope a requirement, then confirm exact figures against the supplied unit before purchase.
| Specification | Typical value |
|---|---|
| Pan size | 2.0–5.0 m long, 0.8–1.5 m wide typical |
| Capacity | 30–400 t/h depending on size and stroke |
| Motion | Brute-force vibrating motors or electromagnetic |
| Stroke | 4–8 mm |
| Grizzly bars | Optional, tapered, 50–150 mm gap |
| Liner | Wear plate or HARDOX in the pan |
| Drive power | 2 × 1.5 kW to 2 × 7.5 kW |
| Control | Variable-voltage or VFD for feed-rate trim |
| Installation | On isolation springs under a hopper or ROM bin |
What a Vibrating Feeder Is Used For
- Feeding jaw crushers from a ROM hopper
- Scalping fines around a primary crusher
- Metering mill feed
- Bin discharge of crushed ore
Maintenance Schedule
Most premature failures in this equipment class trace back to a missed routine check rather than a design fault. The intervals below are a practical starting schedule; adjust them to your duty cycle and the manufacturer manual.
| Interval | Task |
|---|---|
| Every shift | Confirm even feed across the pan; check for packed clay in grizzly gaps; listen for spring or motor faults. |
| Weekly | Inspect pan liners and grizzly-bar wear; check motor bolts and spring seats. |
| Monthly | Motor bearing lubrication; isolation-spring height. |
| Quarterly | Replace worn grizzly bars before the gap opens enough to send oversize around the crusher. |
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I feed a jaw crusher with a loader instead of a feeder?
You can, and many small sites do. You will pay for it in bridging, uneven jaw wear, tramp events and a crusher that is either empty or stalled. A vibrating feeder is one of the highest-return extras on a primary crushing station. Size the hopper so the loader dumps into the hopper, not into the crusher.
When do I need a grizzly section?
When the feed contains a lot of fines or clay that would pack the jaw, or when undersize can usefully bypass the crusher onto the discharge conveyor. Grizzlies raise crusher capacity and reduce wear. They are standard on ROM feed, optional on clean quarry rock.
Why is my feeder running but nothing is moving?
Packed clay, a closed gate, or the motors wired out of phase so they cancel instead of adding. Check the gate, then the wiring, then dig the pan. Wet laterite fines are famous for this on Tanzanian sites after rain.
